Todd Hiott was inducted as the youngest member of the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame on the evening of November 8, 2007.
Hiott is the Assistant Vice-President of the Eastern Region for American Modern Insurance Group. Since his start in the manufactured housing business, Hiott has served on the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina’s Board of Directors every year but one since 1996. As Chair of MHISC, Hiott lead the association through two highly successful years. Currently, Hiott serves on the MHISC Executive Committee as Treasurer and serves as the MHISC representative on the South Carolina Department of Insurance Hurricane Loss Mitigation Committee.
Art Newton presided over the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony during the 2007 MHISC Fall Quarterly Meeting held at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Fellow member of the South Carolina Manufactured Hall of Fame, Mitch Gault of Kent-Gault Homes inducted Todd Hiott into the Hall of Fame.
Members of the manufactured housing industry across the Southeast were present to honor Hiott, including dealers, manufacturers’ representatives, community owners and managers, developers, service and supply representatives.

2007 Annual Convention Report
Hundreds of people from all across the southeast joined MHISC in celebrating its 40th Anniversary at the association’s annual convention in Hilton Head Island on July 19-22. The convention was full of useful information and fun events. Attendees enjoyed a blast from the past as MHISC took members back to where it all began in 1967.
A panel of South Carolina Manufactured Housing Board members answered some of the association’s toughest questions that are on everyone’s minds concerning the regulation of the manufactured home industry.
The annual meeting was followed by an informative Modular Summit. Thayer Long, Executive Director of the National Modular Housing Council in Washington, presented a presentation on the subtleties of marketing to modular customers. The Modular Summit also included a VIP panel Tim Watson of Haven Homes, Joe Manis of Manis Custom Builders, Dennis Jones of R-Anell Housing Group and Bon Gardner of Manning Homes. This panel gave members a preview of profitable trends of the modular industry in South Carolina in upcoming months and years.
Fun activities, such as our golf tournament, Shag lessons and a kayaking tour of Hilton Head, kept members busy before enjoying three entertaining receptions, a delicious 40th Annual Gala and a high-energy late-night dance. A retrospective presentation during the Saturday evening 40th Anniversary Gala honored and paid tribute to the men and women who built the manufactured housing into the major industry it is today.

The evening also celebrated the contributions and hard work of Mr. David Bennett, Administrator for the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Board, for his twenty-five years of service to the manufactured housing industry.
The MHISC Dealer Roundtable, Political and Governmental Affairs Committee, Membership Committee and Image and Professionalism Committee met the following morning to develop ways to effectively promote the manufactured housing industry.

2006 MHISC Fall Quarterly Meeting
Barry MacDowell is the newest member of the SC Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame.
MacDowell, the owner of Stephenson Homes in Gaffney, received the industry's highest honor at a celebration in Greenville November 2nd.
A sucessful retailer, MacDowell sees affordability as a key element in the marketing of manufactured homes. In order to keep costs low for his customers, MacDowell has run his business for three decades without hiring a salesperson to assist him.
MacDowell was inducted as a part of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina's Fall Quarterly meeting at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville. He was recognized for his leadership roles in the manufactured housing industry including service on the association's board, Executive Committee, as Cherokee County Coordinator and on MHISC's Dealer Roundtable.
He was inducted by Fleetwood Homes executive Ronnie Cudd.
Todd Hiott of American Modern Insurance, Secretary of the association, presided over the meeting.
Company owners, managers and representatives from across the state and the Southeast participated in the meeting, including dealers, manufacturers, developers, community owners and representatives of the service and supply companies that serve the industry.
The series of industry events continued the next morning on November 3rd with meetings of MHISC's Dealer Roundtable, Image and Professionalism Committee, Membership Committee and Political and Government Affairs Committee.
