MHISC Hires New Communications Director

Katrina Jorgensen joins MHISC as our new Communications Director. Katrina brings a background of journalism paired with business marketing. She formerly worked for an international non-profit in Washington, D.C. as their Communications Manager, and as Political Editor for the Independent Journal Review, an online political outlet. Katrina has written for major publications like CNN International and The Guardian, and has been featured in the New York Times, BBC The Blaze, and Fox New affiliates. While Katrina has lived across the U.S. and overseas, consulting for non-profits, businesses and government agencies, she recently returned to her family ties in South Carolina in 2015.

Katrina, a 2007 Honors graduate from the University of North Texas, started her career by building one of Dallas’s top boutique web design companies (awarded by her own industry). Her business focused on branding, online marketing and social media, everything from design to messaging. She worked directly with small business and start-ups, as well as business associations and charities, consulting on their digital marketing strategy. In 2010, she published a book about current technology trends and their potential political applications. She has been a featured speaker for varied institutions including, Microsoft, the University of South Carolina and the Norwegian Refugee Council.

Katrina will expand communications at MHISC by telling the story of our industry and our members. By using new digital tools, reliable media platforms, and creative engagement, she plans to add value and opportunity for everyone in the MHISC family.
