New Cost-saving Amendment to Modular Code Approved by State Legislature

The SC General Assembly approved legislation to remove expensive gypsum underflooring requirements on modular and site-built homes. The legislation, drafted and proposed by MHISC, suspends enforcement of 501.3 of the 2012 International Residential Code in SC.

The legislature passed the bill, S348, in June, which means the gypsum requirement won't be in effect when the 2012 edition of the IRC goes into effect July 1.

MHISC is the voice of the manufactured and modular home industries in South Carolina.
